Sunil Pai (born 12 November; based in Newcastle upon Tyne / London, England) is an Indian-British software engineer best known for building the Cloudflare Agents SDK (cloudflare/agents) and for founding PartyKit, a real-time multiplayer platform that was acquired by Cloudflare. He is active on X as @threepointone and has 40,000+ followers.[1]

Career

Pai holds a BE in Computer Science from NITK (National Institute of Technology Karnataka). He began his career at companies including J.P. Morgan, Myntra, and Oculus, building front-end infrastructure and developer tooling. He was a long-standing contributor to the React core team at Meta/Facebook and is the author of the CSS-in-JS library glamor (3.7k stars).[2]

He joined Cloudflare in 2021, where he led development of Wrangler 2.0 — the CLI for Cloudflare Workers — and contributed extensively to the workers-sdk repository. He left Cloudflare around 2022 to found PartyKit, an open-source platform for building real-time multiplayer and collaborative applications. Cloudflare subsequently acquired PartyKit and Pai returned to Cloudflare as Principal Systems Engineer.[3]

Back at Cloudflare, Pai built and maintains the Agents SDK (cloudflare/agents, 4.7k stars), the primary framework for building and deploying stateful AI agents on Cloudflare's global network. He authored the March 2026 blog post announcing Dynamic Workers — AI-generated code executing in secure, lightweight isolates 100× faster than traditional containers.[4]

He describes himself as "building AI agents @ Cloudflare" and is an active international speaker at JavaScript and React conferences.

Connection to Jan

Jan identified Sunil as the single highest-priority outreach target in his 2025 Cloudflare strategy, noting Sunil as a "Sequoia-backed founder acquired by Cloudflare in 6 months" and a "direct connection to Cloudflare platform decisions." Jan was connected to Sunil through the chain: Brendan Irvine-Broque → Kate (VC) → Sunil. A meeting was planned for mid-2025 to discuss an IC DevRel/Agents role and Jan's MCP client project.[5][6]
