Paraga Agarwal

Paraga Agarwal (@paraga) is an entrepreneur and technology executive best known as the former CEO of Twitter (now X). He is the founder and CEO of Parallel AI — a San Francisco-based AI company building next-generation web search and retrieval infrastructure for AI agents. Jan Wilmake worked directly under him as a DevRel contractor from August to November 2025.^[1]

Background

Prior to Parallel AI, Paraga served as CEO of Twitter following Jack Dorsey's departure. He is described by Jan as leading an "incredibly talent-dense team who are rebuilding web infrastructure for AI from first principles."^[1]

Parallel AI

Under Paraga's leadership, Parallel AI focused on:

• Web Search API — state-of-the-art web search engineered for AI agents, with proprietary index and retrieval infrastructure
• Extract API — HTML-to-markdown extraction with configurable engines
• Task API — long-running parallel research tasks with multiple processor tiers

In November 2025, Paraga shared benchmark results showing Parallel Search outperforming products built over years by major companies.^[2]

In January 2026, Parallel's web search was made available in preview on Google Vertex AI.^[3]

Jan publicly announced his Parallel AI role on August 6, 2025, citing Paraga directly: "Very excited and grateful to be working with @paraga (ex-Twitter CEO) and his incredibly talent-dense team."^[1]
