Ives van Hoorne

From Jan Wilmake's personal knowledge base

Ives van Hoorne

Ives van Hoorne (@CompuIves on X) is a Dutch software engineer and entrepreneur, best known as the creator and co-founder of CodeSandbox — one of the most widely-used online code editors and development environments. He is also the creator of Biscuit, an all-in-one business-building platform.[1]

Career

CodeSandbox

CodeSandbox is an online IDE that allows developers to create, share, and collaborate on web applications directly in the browser. It became one of the most prominent tools in the JavaScript/React ecosystem and raised significant venture capital funding. Van Hoorne is one of the most recognised Dutch tech founders in the developer tools space.

Biscuit

Van Hoorne's current project is Biscuit (biscuit.so), described as "the all-in-one platform for building your business." Biscuit targets solo builders and founders, combining project management, assets, data models, brand identity, email, workflows, and preview capabilities. The company has an office in Amsterdam with canal views, actively hosts builder events, and is hiring.[2]

His company email domain is flits.inc.[3]

Meeting with Jan Wilmake

On May 12, 2026, van Hoorne met with Jan Wilmake for a 30-minute Google Meet call. The meeting had been originally scheduled for May 8 but was rescheduled by Ives to May 12 at 11:00 UTC.[4]

During the meeting, Jan showed van Hoorne the OpenPolsia dashboard and GitHub repository — demonstrating his work on autonomous business-managing AI agents. Prior to the call, Jan had spent ~30 minutes building a project called "Publican" inside Biscuit and researched van Hoorne's X profile for approximately 6 minutes.[1]

Following the meeting, Maria Martin from Biscuit emailed Jan on May 13, 2026 about the Publican project — suggesting the meeting opened a substantive relationship between Jan and the Biscuit team.[5]

Significance

Van Hoorne represents a particularly relevant connection for Jan: both are Dutch, both are focused on developer/builder tooling, and Biscuit's vision of empowering solo builders aligns with Jan's own philosophy of independence and lean entrepreneurship (see Reciprocal_Networks, Outcomputed). The meeting also carries potential career implications, as Jan had previously expressed interest in working at Biscuit during his 2026 job search.[6]
