**Groningen** is a city in the north of the Netherlands and the provincial capital of the province of the same name. It is the primary base of [[Jan_Wilmake]], who has lived in and around the city intermittently since 2012 and settled there permanently from approximately 2023.

## University of Groningen (RUG)

The **Rijksuniversiteit Groningen** (RUG), founded in 1614, is one of the Netherlands' oldest universities. Wilmake completed his Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence there between approximately 2012 and 2016. In 2025, he returned in a supervisory capacity, overseeing four software engineering students working on [[uithub]]-related tooling.
